With two reasons to celebrate (job promotion and Father's Day), our family headed to our favorite Oregon hangout. The truth is, we would move to central Oregon in a heartbeat if it was a sound, logical decision. But there is this thing called work which one of us must do in order for our family to thrive. So instead we grab every opportunity to enjoy the beauty and all central Oregon has to offer.
We had a great time biking, fishing, hiking and watersliding (the outdoor aquatics center was open!).
On Sunday we hiked around Paulina Lake - one of twin crater lakes in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument. These lakes are so blue and beautiful. Unlike most lakes, there are no fresh water sources (like rivers) feeding into them. This lakeside trail was literally lake side.

So here's an example of just how close the trail got to the lake at times. The girls are both on the trail in the photo below....
We also explored and walked around some lava flows.
Here Kayleigh is standing next to a large piece of obsidian.
maybe we should move there we would see you monthly!!!! And it is awesome there!!!
