Summer of Science

We don't really do official science studies during the school year. I use the excuse that our lives are saturated by science and the girls are naturally drawn to science. They have done a lot of independent learning when it comes to science - reading books, watching dvds, field trips, hiking, backyard fun and more.

So I'm trying to make an effort to "do science" this summer. You know - messy experiments and such.

Today we made slime which was nothing more than cornstarch, water and some food coloring. This "slime" is pretty cool. It looks runny, and it does ooze like a liquid, but when you stir it or grab it, it feels like a solid.

We were at a Scholastic warehouse book sale yesterday and got several science experiment books that we will try to work our way through this summer.

Here are some other random photos I've taken but not posted....
