Vacation With Friends - Part 2

Sunriver is home to many deer and we had several right in our back yard. They are used to people and are pretty tame. One morning there were seven just off the back deck.

On Tuesday we headed to the Cascade Lakes area. We love going from lake to lake because it's just so beautiful. Unfortunately it was pretty hazy during the week - must be some forest fires in the area - and we didn't have very good visibility of the mountains.

On Wednesday morning we headed to the lava river tube for a one mile walk underground.

Then we rented a boat and tube to float down the Deschutes River. The guys took the four older kids for a test run, then Kara, Danny and I joined them for a second trip down the river.

On Thursday we drove west - all the way to the coast. We arrived right at high tide so we didn't get to play in the tide pools. We ran up and down the sand dune a few times and then decided to head to dinner. Unfortunately we waited about 10 minutes too long because a couple large parties went in right before us and there was a 2 hour wait. Pacific City is not big and dining options are not abundant. Thankfully we found a place that could seat us without any wait, but the food wasn't great.

We were hoping for another chance to play in the tide pools, but Friday morning was high tide and very, very cloudy. We couldn't even see the big rock that you can see in the photos above. Didn't see it even a little bit!

So we played on the sand dunes some more. These four crazy kids put on a play for us - it was called "Death" and they were really into it. Each time they did it we gave them feedback and then they would give us another show. It basically involved each one of them falling off this cliff (there is a ledge below) and then at the end they would pop up and yell "We are alive!"
