What We've Been Up To

Now that we are back from vacation and all our "summer" things have come and gone, it's time to think about returning to our school learning. I joke about only doing school when it rains, and as tempting as it is to wait a bit more for school I think we'll start up at the beginning of September. Maybe even ON Labor Day (gasp!). I think Kevin is going to work that day and use his vacation day another time.

Anyway....we've had a fun week and dipped our toes into school this week by setting a morning routine of breakfast, reading and violin practice. The girls are actually excited to start school because we got new desks! I'm sure the newness and novelty of them will wear off as soon as I get out the math books.

I love the new desks, too. I love how versatile they are and practical they are. I even love how the violins fit on the top shelf. I've learned that the girls will pick up their violins several times a day if they are within eyesight.

It's nice to have a big workspace for crafts, school work and even extra dining space for when we have guests over.

On Wednesday we went to the Japanese Gardens with our Japanese friends because we like to be extra ethnic in our cultural experiences. Like the previous two times we've been, it was beautiful!

Is it just me or are my girls looking extra grown up right now?

Then we headed to the Rose Gardens to eat lunch. I love where I live - so many gardens and so much beauty surrounding this area!

And now we are off to church so I can work on library stuff!
