Our Big Adventure - New Hampshire

We left Colorado on Friday afternoon. We were scheduled to fly to NY and then NH that evening. With the time change, it would put us in NH at 11pm and we would then drive to the Millers house (1.5 hrs away).

When we arrived at the airport, Kevin wasn't able to check in. You see, when we originally planned this trip I bought 4 tickets to Denver on Oct. 3. But a few days later Kevin realized he needed to be there on Oct 1. It was much cheaper to buy him a new, one way ticket than it was to change the other flight. What I didn't realize was that him not showing up for the flight on Oct. 3 would cancel his entire trip....

Finally we got it worked out and he met us at the gate. But then our flight was delayed and we knew we would miss our connection to NH. So....we got rebooked on a flight to Detroit and then Boston. We also rebooked our rental car since we'd be arriving at a new airport. And I made sure they pulled our luggage and redirected it as well.

So we get on the flight to Detroit and it takes off 45 minutes late. We were fairly certain we wouldn't make our connection to Boston, but somehow we did.

We arrive in Boston at 11:30 pm and have no luggage. It never got re-tagged to go to Boston so it was in NH. Ug. Delta gave us a couple "overnight" kits and we arranged for them to deliver the luggage to the Millers. Then we set off to get the rental car.

Things got worse. There was a very long line with about 30 people and only one person working the Budget counter. After waiting in line for 40 minutes, I headed over to Enterprise to see if they could get us a car instead. They helped us quickly and it turned out to be much cheaper.

It was now 1 am and we set off for our 2 hour drive to NH (with no luggage!). We arrived at 3am and slept a few hours. I called about our luggage in the am and they hadn't opened our file yet. Kevin and Dave were going part way to the airport to look at a boat and I encouraged them to just go to the airport and pick our luggage. Good thing they did because it wasn't until Monday at noon that Delta called to open my file.

Anyway...we made it and had a full two days with the Millers at their lake home.

Even though it was cloudy and cool, we still went tubing on the lake.

Danny was our driver...

The lake was so calm and clear - it was like glass!

Dave did some wakeboarding and even Kevin tried it. I thought the tubing looked fun so I went out with Syd. It was a blast! I managed to hold on until the very end. When the boat slowed down, the tube went forward and down into the water. They forgot to tell us to lean back and we both slid into the water!

We got some peeks at the fall foliage, but it was pretty gray so it wasn't very brilliant.

Our first full night we had a fire and cooked smores. Dave also had a lot of sparklers left over so the kids had fun playing with those (and Kevin had fun playing with his camera!)

And now I must sign off and go celebrate with this girl.....she's 7 today!
