Last Saturday, Kevin headed off on a hunting adventure. He had to drive to Enterprise, OR (on the other side of the state) and then fly into Hells Canyon. Weather was iffy, so he was supposed to be at the airport around 10 am and just wait for our pastor to fly in and get him. He didn't have to wait too long, and even though it was windy, they were able to fly to the camp safely.
There were several others from our church, as well as a guy named Cash, there to hunt. It's elk season, so elk is what they were hunting for. Kevin didn't have a hunting tag, but missed the deer hunting trip in September and really wanted to go. You might remember we went as a family to this same spot a couple years ago.
Anyway, even though it was really cold and snowed quite a bit, he had fun. He ended up having to walk out because there was so much ice on the plane the day he was supposed to fly back. So Kevin and Cash hiked out 10 miles to the trailhead where pastor Mike's truck (and horse trailer) was sitting. They drove the truck to the airport (2.5 hours) to get Kevin's car. Then they had to return the truck to the trailhead - another 2.5 hour drive. Then they had to drive back to the airport to get Cash's car - another 2.5. hours. THEN they had a 5 hour drive home!!!!
Only Kevin would think that was fun. Anyway, here are the pics he took of his time.
It looks so beautiful there so I can appreciate the draw but to call it fun? Let's just say that Kevin didn't get his taste in adventure from me! I'm just so glad he got home safely though and had a good time. Poor Jill! How many gray hairs did this trip of his give you??
