We went for a hike today - west - in the coastal mountains. We hiked up Saddle Mountain, which is a very popular hike in the summer and fall. Even though it's winter and supposedly closed, there were several cars in the parking lot at the trailhead.
We had heard it was supposed to be clear near the coast, but it was pretty foggy and cloudy.
Much of the hike is through the forest where the moss is dripping from the trees.
I kid you not. It's dripping and I find it amazingly beautiful.
Finally we broke through the clouds and were greeted by the sun. It was a bit surreal to be looking down on the clouds. Usually that only happens from airplanes.
We had great views of Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, Mt Adams and Mt Hood. Below you can see St Helens and Adams. (Kevin was originally going to climb St. Helens today)
On our way down I saw this moss guy...
Beautiful pictures!!!!!
