Out and About in Phuket

Here are a few pictures from the streets surrounding our resort in Phuket. To get to the beach, you had to walk a few blocks and this is what it looked like...lots of little shops and restaraunts and spas. I didn't get a picture of the fish spa, but there were several places that had fish tanks with little fish in them. You could pay a certain amount to stick your feet in the tank for 15, 30 or 45 minutes and the fish would eat the dead skin off your feet.

These are called tuk-tuks and they are the local taxi. We actually saw these all over Thailand and sometimes they would be so full that people would also be sitting on top.

One evening we passed this woman...she was carving lotus flowers and orchids out of soap. The girls each bought one as a souvenir.

This is dragon fruit...it looks cool, but doesn't taste like much.

Here is the dragon fruit cut open (the one with pink skin). The other fruit was both interesting and delicious. It had a hard shell you had to peel open...below you can see it partially opened and then another one without the skin on. You could pop the whole thing in your mouth, but it did have a seed inside.

We didn't have to walk far to find a Buddhist temple.

Kayleigh and I headed to the beach to watch the sun set over the Andaman Sea. It was quite nice.

Here we are waiting for the sun to set. You can see how much sun we got in the few hours we were out that day (and we'd slathered ourselves in sunscreen, too.)
