The End of Our Trip

Finally I've come to the last post about our trip....

To get home, we had to fly back to Bangkok and spend the night there again. Even though we arrived with plenty of time to actually get into the city and explore, none of us felt like going or doing anything. We were tired, and by then we all had a touch of "Bangkok belly". So we hung out at the hotel - swimming and walking around.

When you are driving around Thailand, you see some interesting things. Like wild goats or pigs on the side of the road.

You also see a lot of mopeds. A lot.... notice all the children and lack of helmets. I even saw a family of 4 and the woman was holding several giant bags of stuff from the store.

The airport had Dunkin Donuts and their donuts were a little more interesting than what we see in America!

at the airport....flags of Thailand and the buddhist flag (yellow) The screen in the middle has a picture of the king and his wife.

Leaving Phuket and flying to Bangkok. This isn't great, but it gives you an idea of the many little islands.

These are from the hotel in Bangkok. This hotel was right by the airport... in fact, you could walk underground between the airport and the hotel.

On one side of the hotel was an atrium that was a Thai garden, and on the other side was the atrium with the pool. This is the garden....

They would somehow graft orchids into the trees and eventually the orchids would grow on the sides of the trees. I think that's what this wooden structure was for.

This is from the pool side....

I may have said this in an earlier post, but I've never seen such a patriotic country in terms of flags. We saw them everywhere....

We also saw some funny things like this at the airports....priority seating for handicapped, monks, pregnant women and women with babies..

Here is a monk sitting in a monk designated area at one airport.

Finally we flew home....we watched the sun set and then crossed the international date line and watched the sun rise.

  1. Thanks for writing this all up Jill. Now I dont have to answer the question 'how was your trip?' I can just refer them here. Good job. I heard from Dave today; there is new fighting in Burma and they have also been asked to go to South Sudan to do some refugee work/rescue there. Please stop right now and pray for Dave, Karen and FBR. They are going into some heavy violence areas in the next 3 weeks.

  2. Oh wow-God bless & protect Dave, Karen & FBR. Have mercy on them all.
You have experienced so much on this mission trip it will take you a while to process all the things you witnessed & felt. It's kind of mind boggling really. I hope you feel it was worth the sacrifice & discomfort. Thank you so much, Jill, for your tireless storytelling and photography that brought it all to life for us.
