We actually started celebrating Mother's Day on Friday when Kevin arranged for some friends to come stay with the girls and he took me away for the night. We ended up spending the whole day with our friends - rock climbing, going out to eat and then just hanging out at our house.
Sunday morning started early with two excited girls waking me up at 6:45 am! I took a peek at their gifts, then went back to sleep for another hour.
Sydney got me this special cup of "coffee" and Kayleigh got me some beautiful flowers.
After church we went for a hike. When we got to the hike of my choice, the parking lot was so crowded and there were no parking spots. So we kept driving and went to a different area. It was the first really nice weekend day in a long time, to hiking was a popular activity choice.
We went to one of the hikes on the eastern side of the gorge and on the Washington side of the river. This particular hike has some great views and this time of year, a wide variety of wildflowers. It was perfect.
I really loved this tree leaning up against this rock wall...and all the moss growing on it.
One of the most beautiful wildflowers I saw...
the "arch"
This area was FILLED with poison oak - it seems we managed to escape and outbreak. Usually Kevin gets it quite easily and we are learning to take extra precautions. We did see two good sized snakes (not rattlers).
Looks like it was a beautiful Mother's Day for a beautiful Mother!
