The Coast

It's been HOT here in Oregon...hotter than we are used to. So we decided to head to the coast on Saturday. After not seeing much of Kevin during the week due to VBS, we needed some quality family time away from home.

We failed to remember that sunny and hot in Portland usually means fog and clouds at the coast. We chose to go to our favorite spot - a fairly secluded beach reached by hiking two miles through the coastal forest. The fog made it quite beautiful.

We arrived 2 hours before high tide (we like this spot because of the great tide pools, but they are only visible at low tide). Kevin and I both brought books and the girls had fun playing in the sand. After two hours, the sun broke through and we had blue skies.

We stayed another 2 hours and had fun looking around at the tide pools that began emerging from the sea.

We also flew a kite...

Here are a few shots from my instagram account...

Although we don't go very often, I love that we live close enough to spend the day at the coast. It's way too cold to swim in, but looking out at the Pacific Ocean is pretty amazing!
