First of all...my apologies for the lack of posts and overall connection with you all. I am finding myself very overwhelmed and swamped these days and each day I'm trying to find my footing. It hasn't left much time for blogging.
At any rate, I'll do my best to check in here at least once a week.
We started fall with rain, gray skies and cooler temps, but the past week we've had sun and highs in the 80s. On Saturday we headed up to Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood for a hike. My hiking book said...
"If you only spend one day in Oregon, spend it at Timberline Lodge. If you only do one hike in Oregon, hike the Timberline Trail."
Can't believe we've never hiked this one. It was truly beautiful. We had an evening engagement, so we didn't get to hike the whole trail, but what we hiked and saw was gorgeous.
It's amazing to me how different Mt. Hood looks at this vantage point. It looks like a completely different mountain that the one we see from our house and neighborhood.
The hike started out by crossing through the ski resort. People are still snow boarding up at the glacier so they have one of the chair lifts running.
This is looking south at Mt. Jefferson. We could also see the Three Sisters and the skyline of Portland if we looked closely.
I love how bright and vivid all the colors were.
If you look closely you can see Kevin and the girls. We hiked up this ridge to the furthest tip before turning around.
The part of the trial that we hiked is actually part of the Pacific Crest Trail. Loved this sign at the beginning of our hike.
We took a quick walk through Timberline Lodge before heading home. It's fascinating to look at the construction of this building.
Beautiful trail
