While in Nicaragua, we stayed at a guest house called Quinta Shalom. This is the same place Kevin stayed when he was in Nicaragua three years ago. It is owned and run by Lois and Marcos. Lois was part of the VS program when Jonas and Barbi were in Nicaragua in the 1970s. She stayed and eventually married Marcos from Nicaragua. He is the pastor of the local church there. They also run another guest house called Quinta Primavera (which used to be the VS house Jonas and Barbi ran when they lived there). It's owned by another organization, but run by Lois. (Kevin got some great photos of it when he was there, so click on the label Nicaragua to see his...)
There are many different kinds of rooms and this place can accommodate all different types of groups at one time. The first night we were in this large room with several other ladies. Then we (mom, Rachel and I) got moved to a smaller room the rest of the time.
There are beautiful gardens surrounding the guest house and all sorts of different meeting areas with rocking chairs for groups to use. (Unfortunately, my camera was on a weird setting and all these pics are grainy)

There are also a couple different areas for groups to eat. There are 5 maids at this guest house who cook, clean and do laundry. I'll talk more about them later in the week.

These are grapefruits. There was a large grapefruit tree on the grounds and we had fresh squeezed grapefruit juice a couple times.
Sunday we went to Lois and Marcos' church. It was a short walk from the guest house and most of the maids attend church there with their families. It was all in Spanish, of course, but it was fun to spend the morning with Nicaraguan believers.
Im loving these posts
