Honey Bee Swarm (in our backyard)

Last night Kayleigh was sitting outside when she noticed something way up in our neighbor's tree. But the tree limb that was housing this bee swarm was hanging over our yard.

We were inside with friends who had some over to discuss the book Jesus, Bread and Chocolate ~ Crafting a Handmade Faith in a Mass-Market World by John J. Thompson. We were sampling different cheeses, breads, coffees, drinks (wine, beer, kombucha) and more.

our youngest (and cutest) visitor

One of the guys said his neighbor is a bee keeper so he called him and he came over to collect the swarm. Apparently it's swarm season and colonies separate, looking for a new cavity to live in. So he was thrilled to collect this swarm and we were thrilled to learn something new and have a little entertainment.

This bee is a male - they don't sting and they have large eyes.
