There are some huge mushrooms growing in the swamp behind our house.
We put a frog on top of one and then had a photo shoot (because we are weird).
We were driving through the gorge last week and took the scenic route
so we could stop at a waterfall. This one is Horsetail Falls.
Found these beauties at the pumpkin farm we visited...
One thing that is new to our homeschool this year is "book club" - every Wednesday we get together with our good friends (Abby has a violin lesson, then we do book club). We read, discuss and analyze a book. The girls and I tried to do this on our own last year, but let's face it....friends and snacks make everything more fun.
Our books so far:
The Carrot Seed by Ruth Krauss (carrots and carrot cake for snack)
Caps for Sale by Esphyr Slobodkina (banana bread and plantain chips for snack)
Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel by Virginia Lee Burton
(popcorn and "coal" for snack - the story takes place in Popperville and my friend made edible coal)
Some days I'm amazed at the education I'm getting by homeschooling my kids!!
In other news....our church building is completed and we have a grand opening scheduled for November 1st!
Last night there was a big wedding - the pastor's youngest daughter got married. Kevin and I play music for prelude and the ceremony. At the reception, Sydney caught the bouquet!
I'm headed up there in a bit to work on the library/bookstore - the ministry I'm in charge of. Kevin's up there now setting up our office (we managed to get a small office that the two of us will share....) and then he's recording a podcast in our recording studio there.
There is still a lot that needs to come together in the next few weeks to be ready. I'll try to get some good pics of it all and then share them with you here. It's a beautiful facility, and I can't wait to see how God uses it to reach the people of our community.
