Utah ~ Moab

We left Salt Lake City on Monday morning and drove further south to Moab. Kevin and I have long been intrigued by the photos we've seen of Arches National Park and it's been on our short list of places to visit for many years.

We were able to rent a townhouse for cheaper than a hotel room and it was nice to have more than one room for the 4 of us! The setting was lovely and there was a private park that the girls loved hanging out in.

We woke up early Tuesday morning and headed to Arches National Park. We wanted to beat the crowds who might be hiking to the popular Delicate Arch. Delicate is the arch you see on most of the brochures or posters about Arches.

After 1.5 miles of hiking...there it was. It's unique because of how it sits alone - unattached to any other rock structures (except the ground). We pretty much had it to ourselves for a few minutes, then another group arrived. There are no signs telling you to stay away, so we were able to walk out and stand under it.

I'm so thankful we got there when we did. It was truly lovely to experience it without a huge crowd. As we were leaving there were several people arriving and as we hiked out we passed at least 60 people on their way in.
