Last Monday we returned to a favorite trailhead near Mt. Hood. We intended to hike to McNeil Point, but the signs and maps were confusing. When the trail was splitting off into several directions, we asked some others which way to McNeil Point and they told us to take a certain trail. It was beautiful and familiar, as we had done this same hike 2 years ago.
What the hikers and hiking book didn't tell us was that we needed to take the "cutoff" trail. So we ended up at Muddy Fork River - which is the exact mistake we made 2 years ago. Anyway, I guess we can't really complain since we had some amazing views.
