We were assigned to bring dessert to our small group last week and decided to make homemade ice cream sandwiches. It was messy, but delicious!
On Saturday temperatures were predicted to reach 100 so we needed to cool off. We decided to head to Hood River early, go to the farmer's market and then hang out at the river.
The beaches were less crowded than we anticipated and we had a lot of fun watching kite boarders, wind surfers and swimming.
This part was really shallow and really cold...we thought it would be warmer because it was standing water, but then realized this is where the Hood river meets the Columbia River and the Hood river is full of glacial melt.
There is a long sand spit that you can walk out on that goes half way across the Columbia River. This is looking back at the town of Hood River from the spit.
looking west down the gorge
looking east...it's amazing how different it looks depending on which direction you look!
We then headed into the country to see the lavender fields, but they were past prime bloom. Still pretty, though.
I found this little house that I love...if I ever have a little land, I want a quirky little house like this to claim as my own. I would plant flowers in the planters and outside, put a comfy chair inside and call it my reading room.
All your beautiful photos are making me even more excited to go to Oregon in September!! It's glorious! But so much more important is our time together! Can't wait to see you Syn & Kay We might have something very special for you when we arrive....???
