Texas - Part 3

On our final day in Texas we went to a nearby state park called Brazos Bend. It's known for its alligators and bird wildlife and it did not disappoint.

It was amazing to see so many different kinds of wildlife as we walked the paths.

On one side of this path was a lake and on the other was a swamp. Perfect alligator environment.

It didn't take long to spot the first gator and by the end of the day our count was up to around 20.

If you look closely on the left in the photo above, you can see the gator out of the water. It had just crossed the trail. This was the only gator we saw out of the water near the trail. It was pretty cool.

There are two gators in the photo below - one was VERY large.

I loved all the big, old trees...and the wildflowers were really pretty, too.

This gator below was the smallest we saw. We learned in the visitor's center that they grow about a foot a year so this guy was probably around 3 years old.

This is definitely a place I would go back to. We only walked a small portion of the park so next time I'll plan to spend more time there.
