Bend

This past Sunday we dropped the girls off at camp (at the coast) and then headed west to Bend for a couple days. It was lovely. We stayed in a new hotel that was in a perfect location for walking downtown and/or around the Old Mill district.

On Monday we rented these electric bikes for a bit and rode all over town. It is such a strange (and great) feeling to be able to accelerate while going UP hills! I think I'd bike a lot more if I had one of these.

On Tuesday we headed into the South Sister wilderness for some hiking. Our original plan for the trip was to climb South Sister, but after Kevin's recent back episode and a new knee injury, we decided to just do a smaller hike.

And now tomorrow we drive to the coast to pick up the girls...hoping and praying we do not get too stuck in traffic due to the increase in eclipse traffic. They are expecting 1 million visitors to the state of Oregon for eclipse viewing. Although we are not in the path of totality, we should have a 99.5% view here in Portland - IF it's not cloudy.
