Advent on Lachenview Lane

I can hardly believe this is our 7th Christmas in this house! It's fun to see our traditions evolve and see what sticks year after year. I'm not sure when it began, but December 1st is our day for breaking out the decorations and setting up the tree. We rarely do all our decorating in one day, but spread it out over several days. We also begin our advent readings on December 1st.

My favorite tradition....writing out the Christmas story in the center of our home. For some reason we skipped last year, but I'm so glad we did it again this year. 

Each year I change up the mantel and each year I declare it's my favorite. This year it's super simple and I love it. 

I was pleasantly surprised when I realized that Christ truly is the focus of Christmas in our home decorations (and hopefully in our hearts as well!). We got this lovely nativity set from Claire and her family this past summer when they visited. 

We have one more week of school before we take a well-deserved break!
