Bird Watching

A couple weeks ago Kayleigh and I joined some local bird enthusiasts on one of their bird watching outings. It is amazing how some of them can identify different birds just by song or call.

We had to meet up in Carson, WA at 7am - it's about a 30 minute drive from here so we left pretty early.

The we drove into the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and walked the Whistle Punk Trail.

I was very distracted by all the wildflowers....

This is what happens when someone says, "Look - there's a bird of prey!" Everyone grabs their binoculars and looks up!

Kayleigh saw and heard several birds she had never seen before...including this Pacific Wren. This little bird had the biggest song!
