Love Your Neighbors

Cookie baking....not my idea of a morning activity (at least not at 7:30!!!), but Sydney had an "idea". You see, yesterday we went for a walk with our neighbors. Our only other encounter with them was a play date at our house more than a month ago. When they came, they brought us cookies. So yesterday, on our walk, Sydney said to the mother, "You should come over again and you can bring us cookies!" To which I replied, "Maybe we can make them cookies sometime". So apparently the neighbors were on her mind this morning because she wanted to make cookies. My first thought was

no way...
too early...

but the Veggie Tales were singing "love your neighbor" and I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Sydney has this way of repeating everything we say to her...and sometimes she doesn't get it quite right. Other times she adds her own commentary...

Me: "Here's the baking soda"
Syd: "Is that like Minnesota?"

Me: "Here's the baking powder"
Syd: "bacon pepper?"

Me: "Here's the flour"
Syd: "fowler....this looks white and fuzzy and stuff"

Kayleigh has finally discovered that she can climb the ladder to Sydney's bed....Most days I remember to put the ladder up so she can't, but every once in a while if I can't find Kayleigh in her normal play areas, I'll find her in "ninny's bed". She goes up there and pretends to sleep...it's actually quite cute. If it weren't so dangerous, I'd just let her do it!


It's another beautiful, sunny day here so we are off to the beach with some friends from church! How cool is that...I can just go to the beach any day I want and I'm not even on vacation!! The water is actually warm enough to swim in...it feels great and it's crystal clear.
