Jill, I just wanted to encourage you about couponing in a sparse retail landscape. :) I saw your post on Money Saving Mom this morning. You have a WalMart and a Walgreens on its way. You also have two grocery stores, right? Does your WalMart match ad prices? If so, that will help you bunches. Keep checking the couponing blogs weekly to compile your plan before going. They've done hours of work, so we don't have to. :)
Walgreens will be great. Just keep a positive attitude. Take them treats every so often. Smile. Don't burn any bridges because you don't have too many options. Always remember that you get to pick. If the deal didn't turn out like you expected, just ask to return the purchase and kindly ask for your coupons back. It takes a few minutes and a manager has to be there, but always be pleasant.
Pray for a CVS. It's my favorite place.
The big thing I learned this year in my coupon journey is that couponing is just like playing cards. You keep and organize as many as you can get your hands on. (I have a zippered binder, trading card sleeves, divider tabs, and a small pair of scissors). Know when to hold them, know when to play them, and know when to walk away if the deal isn't good enough. With practice, you'll know when it's not good enough.
Pray always over your shopping. "Chasing deals" is addictive, and hoarding is not trusting the Lord. :)
