through this most recent move, through my involvement with Compassion, through homeschooling, through books I'm reading and sermons I'm listening to
And He's speaking very clearly to me that my time here on Earth needs to be a time of preparation for my eternal life with Him. That by "following" Him, I need to seek ways to emulate Him and His ministry. That my life needs to look radically different from others in the world. I need to be concerned with the things Christ was concerned with. All my thoughts and actions should glorify God.
It's hard...but God asks us to deny ourselves and take up His cross.
When you read through the Bible, what is it about Christ's life sticks out to you? I am amazed at his care and concern for the poor.
We seemed to be so focused on ourselves...thinking we deserve to be happy...or even that God wants us to be happy. Please show me that verse in the Bible - I can't seem to find it. Instead I find verses like James 1:2 "Consider it pure joy whenever you face trials..." and Matt 25:40 "whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for me".
Are you convicted? I am! And that's why I'm writing this...that's why I advocate for children living in poverty on behalf of Compassion International. That's why I'm asking you to sponsor a child. It's $38 a month. I know for some of you that will be a sacrifice, but for others it might just mean adjusting your standard of living a bit. I think we all need to be less concerned about our standard of living and our comfort level and more concerned about others simply living.
The coolest thing about sponsorship is beyond the money. When a child in a developing country receives a sponsor, they get a friend...someone to love them, pray for them and encourage them. I cannot begin to tell you how awesome this experience can be.
Are you in? Let me introduce you to three children waiting for you to sponsor them.
Kalkedan lives in Ethiopia and will turn 14 on November 10...

Isela lives in Bolivia and was 12 on July 20th...don't you love her dress?

Rahulo lives in India and was 11 on September 14th.

Let me know which one you want to sponsor and I'll get their information to you!
thanks for sharing.
