China Night

A couple weeks ago, Kevin proposed the idea of selecting a certain country and then eating cuisine from the selected country...I saw it as a unique homeschooling opportunity. I got books from the library and found printables on line to make a lapbook. Sydney chose the country China as our first and we celebrated with a meal of delicious Chinese food this past Friday night. (Originally this was supposed to happen 2 weeks ago, but it kept getting post-poned).

It ended up being a really good learning experience and gave us focus for homeschooling. I found lots of great resources at our library and we all had fun learning about China.

A couple in our life group at church spent 12 years as missionaries in China, and we met at their house for a Chinese meal this past week...it fit in perfectly with what we were learning and gave us the opportunity to taste even more Chinese cuisine.

Here's a sampling of what we ordered from the Chinese restaraunt...

And here are some pics of our lapbook... I found a coloring page of the flag, the Great Wall of China, some Chinese symbol drawing sheets, numbers 1-10, animals and a map. The girls had fun putting this together and I was very pleased with how they turned out.

Our next country is ITALY!
