Wahclella Falls

Kevin spent the morning rock climbing with another guy from church so we didn't have time for a big hike. But we did make it out to hike (more like walk) back to Wahclella Falls. It's in the Columbia River Gorge (our favorite playground) and it was a nice, easy trail - a mile in, a mile out.

When you drive through the gorge, it's not uncommon to look out your window and see waterfalls like this one...


Shortly into the hike we walked by this waterfall...










Kevin found a salamander in the creek and later we saw a vole or mole (not sure which) on the side of the trail. We are always looking for creatures.



Very close to the falls was this cave. Kevin had a couple flashlights so he and the girls went in to explore a bit.






This is looking out of the cave - Kevin took this picture from inside. The cave kept going back further, but it was really muddy and hard for them to keep walking. (And I think they were getting a little spooked)

We saw our share of wildflowers - beautiful as always





The foxgloves were beautiful and I took lots of pictures...
