Let me start by saying....I love our yard. It has so much potential.
BUT....it was very neglected by the previous owner. All these bushes and shrubs are so over grown, not to mention ugly!
Before moving in we cut down two trees and 5-7 shrubs/bushes in an attempt to open up the front yard and porch. It helped so much. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of what it looked like before.
Here are a couple pictures of what it currently looks like (or at least looked like this morning!) Do you see that evergreeny, ground-covering shrub Syd is playing in? I'm in the process of ripping that out. It's hard work! I've spent a good 5 hours on it and I've got half of it out.
This brown patch of dirt you see in the front of the yard was 4 or 5 overgrown bushes/shrubs. I don't know what I'm going to do with this space, but I need to clean it up and cut more of the roots out. I might try to grow grass there and enlarge the yard.

This is our backyard. Our neighbors behind the fence have beautiful, big trees that provide so much privacy! There was no previous gardening going on back here, but there is plenty of space. The girls and I went to Lowe's this morning and bought several perennials - all at 50% off or more.
Well...back to work. I'll post some after pictures eventually, but first I need to get some work done!
Hope you are enjoying your weekend. We are having the most beautiful fall weather. Perfect for being outdoors.
Thanks for the pics

LOVE it! Is there a fence? If so then we'll be driving up with Nola when Pax is born to just hang out and learn how to declutter our house! :) We might stay a little longer so I can learn your homeschool technique too - and the girls can learn baby care, we'll make it part of home-ec or human development/biology... :P
ReplyDeleteLove pics...I can't wait to see it after you work your hand on the yard and put in your own plants and gardens!
