Shoes for Kids

I've made a new friend here in the Pacific Northwest....Patricia Jones works for Compassion and has the opportunity to lead many trips to Compassion projects. Her husband, Stephen, also works for Compassion - he's the big music guy - handling the likes of Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Tenth Avenue North , Mercy Me and other artists that promote Compassion's ministry.

Last week I met Patricia at Starbucks. I've been wanting to meet her face to face and she was also getting ready to go to East India on a trip and had agreed to take some gifts over for our kids there. I also wanted to invite her daughter, Isabel, to speak to our homeschool group in February.

Isabel is 11 years old and has started her own ministry called Shoes for Kids. When she was 9 her family took a trip to Kenya and she was humbled by how blessed we are (in America and other countries) to have shoes. When she returned home, she began planning how she could get shoes to kids like the ones she saw in Africa. Her dream has become a reality and last year over 800 pair of shoes were delivered to kids living in poverty - both here in America and in countries around the world.

You can read all about her and her ministry on her website, but what I really want to mention and highlight is that between now and January 27, she is trying to collect 1,000 pairs of shoes to send to Haiti. The shoes do not have to be new - just in good condition. I know I have a few pair in this house we don't really need and my mission is to find them and get them to Isabel.

Want to join me? Want to make some happy feet in Haiti?

If you have questions, you can email Isabel at shoesforkids@comcast.net

If you have shoes to send, send them to:
ShoesforKids Global

What are you waiting for? It's time to declutter your closet and make some happy feet!

  1. I've read about Isabel's ministry before. What an inspiration to young chidren to look beyond their own (often selfish) cocoon to reach out & gift someone across the globe in such a simple way. God bless her!

  2. I'm excited to have her come speak to our homeschool group. I think (hope) it will make an impact to have a kid, come speak to kids about helping kids! Our co-op will collect shoes for the 10 weeks we meet and then present them to Isabel at the end for Shoes for Kids.
