Yesterday was an exciting "Compassion" day for me. When I went to get the mail, we had a letter from Orm in Thailand, the new Compassion magazine with many updates on Haiti and two new children that need to find sponsors.
Meet Kevin in Bolivia

and Manisha in India
June 12, 2006
I immediately felt drawn to both of these precious children. Kevin, because of his name....and Manisha, because of her birthday (same as my 95 year old Grandma, Ella). February is a month where so many of us focus on love and showing our love to others. As I sat down to post Kevin and Manisha's pictures on my blog, this Bible verse came to me.
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need, but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. - 1 John 3:16-18
I know that sponsoring a child through Compassion is not the only way to demonstrate our love for God and our love for others, but it is a really good way. And both of these precious children could use you and your love. Although sponsorship does cost $38 month, it's not about the money - it's about the relationship you develop with your child.
I asked Sydney and Kayleigh to share their thoughts about sponsorship and this is what they said...
Sydney - "It will help the world be better. It will make them so happy. It makes God happy."
Kayleigh - "It helps them not to be poor. It pleases God."
If you want to show love to one of these children and become their sponsor, please let me know and I will get you connected. I also have some fun gifts for you to help you on your journey of sponsorship.
