Canadian Tide Pools

We just couldn't bring ourselves to pay $20 per family to go to the famous Long Beach. I figured you wouldn't believe me when I told you it cost $20 to park at the beach, so I took a picture.

Instead, we found some tide pools to explore. Our girls LOVE tide pools (especially Sydney) and we were all excited to discover some new and interesting things we haven't seen in Oregon tide pools.

Sydney spotted this urchin shell and Kevin was kind enough to go in after it.

We saw some very cool starfish - all different colors - even blue! Along the shore by our hotel we saw giant starfish. I tried to take pictures, but you can't tell how big they are from the pictures, so I didn't post them. Think large pizza - that's about the size of the fellas we saw.

And Sydney was thrilled to find live sea urchins!! She was so excited.

There were so many hermit crabs ~ watch the videos below to see what I mean.

Here is the sea urchin shell we scored for free from a tide pool.

  2. What a beautiful place! I'm so glad you got to see it, even if there were some bad times. What an education the girls are receiving! I can totally see Sydney someday being the star of her own cable TV show about sea life and insects. She's a natural!!
