The Garden

I am enjoying my successful garden this year... I love going out to look at the progress each new day brings. I am amazed by how well everything is growing.

It's hard to tell from these pictures, because the background is also lush and green, but it's doing quite well. Remember what it looked like in early June and late June?

We've got quite a bit packed into these two gardens. I set it up to follow the square foot gardening method, which maximizes space when it comes to planting your crops. I'm taking notes so I can remember what worked well and what might need a bit of tweaking next year.

Here is our corn....Kayleigh said it's growing hair just like hers.

The zinnias (and marigolds and sunflowers) will soon bloom.

The strawberries (all 4 of them!) are beginning to ripen.

At least 2 of my 3 heads of broccoli are ready for eating.

We have many, many, many little tomatoes appearing.

The peas are ready (none of us like peas!)

And the zucchini are plentiful.

I found one that was ready to pick...

And to give you an idea of how tall the corn is, here is a picture of the girls standing next to it.

And last year I had fun taking pics of the girls next to the sunflowers, so I thought I would try it again. I have sunflowers in the garden, as well as along this fence.

We've even had success getting this grape vine (stick) to grow! Kevin's co-worker cut two branches (?) off and we've been able to get them to sprout leaves.

  1. OOh I just showed this to Chandler! We were trying to identify everything! :) Our garden is lush but some of the veggies have bottom rot. We think it's b/c of a calcium deficiency. So sad b/c it's on our green pepper and regular and cherry tomatoes. We have a ton of squash though. I have got to post pictures soon.
