This lava flow was produced 1300 years ago by the most recent eruption of the Newberry volcano. Obsidian is lava glass and is shiny and very sharp. We had a lot of fun exploring and discovering beautiful rocks in this short hike around the flow.
The shiny part is the obsidian....
