Tilly Jane at Mt. Hood

Surprise, surprise....we went hiking today.

Kevin was itching to do some alpine hiking, so we drove up Mt. Hood as far as we could go. The road he was hoping we could drive up was closed, so we hiked up to Tilly Jane cabin. We've done this hike before, but never made it all the way to the cabin. About 2 miles in we found ourselves hiking in snow.

In 2008 there was  forest fire that swept through this area.

Unfortunately there have been some regulation changes concerning the use of the cabin and it was all locked up.

Kevin rigged up this pulley system and pulled the girls up to the balcony.

We had some great mountain views. This is Mt. Adams, but we could also see Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens.

The girls and I stopped at Tilly Jane cabin. Kevin went a little farther. Hoping to see the Elliot glacier, he hiked past the tree line.

On our way down I began noticing the curly branches of these tress.

I got a little obsessed and tried getting some abstract photos.

On the way down I also had a flare up of what I expect to be Reynaud's disease.

Thankfully it didn't last too long - it's pretty annoying, though. Do any of you suffer from this? It seems to be getting worse for me. I've never quite seen my fingers like this before and they were uncomfortable for quite a while.

    1. I haven't had it checked because there is no test you can run and no treatment. It's just a clinical diagnosis and from what I've read and photos I've seen, it's obvious that I'm affected by it. I just have to stay warm : )

    1. I remember talking about this with you in Colorado! I do usually wear gloves and sometimes it makes it worse because it limits the circulation. Shortly after I took this photo, I put my gloves on and within just a minute or two noticed a big improvement.

Yes...my toes do this sometimes, too, but not as often and not as bad.
