Central Oregon Mini-Vacation (Friday and Saturday)

We just got back from a 5 day vacation to central Oregon.....Bend ~ Sunriver ~ Crater Lake.

It was fantastic. Normally we go crazy with activities, but this was a little slower-paced and relaxed. Kevin and I surprised the kids (and ourselves) with some fun things and God blessed us with some other "treats".

When we first arrived at our house (we rented a house in Sunriver ~ got a great deal ~ 4 nights for the price of 2), we saw this deer just sitting next to the house across the street. We thought it must be hurt because it didn't flinch when we were gawking at it, but about an hour later it was gone.

The first night our dinner was prepared by master chefs Sydney and Kayleigh.

And we ate outside on the deck.

This is how chef Sydney arranged the cheese and bread ~ all stacked up in neat little piles.

We woke up early Saturday morning and headed to Bend so Kevin could run in the Pilot Butte challenge. This is a picture of Pilot Butte.

It was a one mile run up this extinct volcano. One mile. UP.

The girls and I took a shuttle up and waited for him at the finish line. We were treated to this beautiful view while we waited.

And here he is....

After the race, we spent the day in Bend. Beautiful Bend.

We saw these double surreys for rent and decided to surprise the girls by renting one. It was much harder to pedal than we thought it would be! But we had fun riding along the banks of the Deschutes River.

Then we headed back to our house in Sunriver and decided to go for a swim at the new aquatic center. This was one of the "treats" God blessed us with. This is a brand-new, state of the art aquatic center and admission to it was included in our house rental.

I'll do a separate post on that tomorrow...I need to go fold some laundry and prepare for school tomorrow.
