The Submarine and My Garden

Kevin brought this HUGE box home from work so the girls could make a cool fort. They've made a submarine. I had Kayleigh stand next to it so you could see just how big it really is. And it's in the middle of our family/homeschool room.

In other news, all this warm weather and sunshine has done wonders for my flower garden. Everything has been growing so quickly!

Does anyone know what these beauties are? I don't remember planting them. They are in the area where I planted some wildflower seeds last year.

And these tulips are blooming and they are so pretty! I'm hoping next week the girls and I can go to the tulip farm. But it's supposed to start raining tomorrow and who knows when it will stop.

Even my strawberries are looking good. I was hoping to get lettuce planted this week, but I just didn't get around to it.

These are some "garden friends" the girls painted. We put them out front by the sidewalk - hopefully they will make people smile as they walk by!

  1. The clump of leaves directly to the left of the yellow flowers in your first garden picture look like lupines to me. Do you remember planting any of those? They are generally bi-ennial, so if you had some flowers last year, you might just get leaves this year (or vice versa). The flowers produce seed pods which drop & self-seed if they don't get eaten by birds!
Wow - I am so jealous - we are still "white" here - it snowed today. Can't wait to get out into the garden.

  3. There is nothing cooler than a big old box that you can make into your own special world. I would love to take a ride in your submarine.
Your garden has me longing for springtime! It's taking a very long time to get here this year.
