Mexico 2013 - part 4

On Friday afternoon, my team went in to Mazatlan and had an afternoon at the beach. It was beautiful and sunny and the water was warm.

There were all sorts of beach vendors vying for out attention, and I decided to let this girl braid my hair. I wanted something simple so I told her one braid on the side. I imagined she would braid a beaded ribbon in (not sure where I got this idea) but when she was all done it was just a braid. Something I could have done myself.

Here I am with my lame braid and a frog called Senor Frog.

We stayed for dinner and ate at this restaurant looking out over the ocean.

Now I'll skip to Sunday morning. We walked to church with several of the kids.

The boy on the far left is Angel...he lives at Rancho de los Ninos. So cool to see him up there playing guitar.

Ok...so here's the best part of the whole trip. On Sunday morning, 4 of the kids who live at Rancho de los Ninos and 1 of the workers were baptized. And we got to see it! The man who baptized them is Christian - he's the local guy in charge of Rancho de los Ninos. He oversees the spiritual aspect of everything and leads both the kids and the staff in regular devotions and Bible studies. He's been doing a study on baptism and Juan Antonio, Juan Enrique, Jorge, Kimberly and Yolanda all decided to publicly commit their lives to Christ through baptism!

I still have more to share, but I'll stop there for now.
