In October we had a field trip to Hoyt Arboretum in Portland. It's a gorgeous place to walk around and see a variety of trees. While there, we were introduced to the Coulter Pine cone....a gigantic pine cone. I took a picture of Sydney holding it and secretly began wishing for my own pine cone this big. Our guide told us that there are a couple Coulter pine trees near our house, so we've been driving by every couple weeks hoping to find one that has fallen.
The past 5 days it's been windy here....really windy. So yesterday on my way home from church I decided to drive by the trees to see if any had fallen. I didn't see any, but did see some branches of pine needles that had fallen. I've been hoping to collect some fallen branches to use in my Christmas decorating, so I hopped out of the car to grab them.
And that's when I saw it....
I may or may not have let out a little scream.
It's quite awesome and impressive in it's size. I'd love to have a few more, but I'm happy to have at least one!
In other news, this girl.....do you see that tooth that is so loose it's sticking out?
She lost it and now she's toothless! What a cutie...
So there you have it....toothless and a gigantic pine cone.
The pinecone is really is big!!! And I love toothless. She just gets cuter hugs and love
ReplyDeleteOh Kayleigh, you look so grown up! You're the cutest!
