Thursday was our only full day to be together and we decided to head to the coast to see the Pacific Ocean. But first...a stop for our favorite donuts.
Our next stop was Tillamook Cheese because every one needs donuts for breakfast and ice cream for lunch!
Finally we made it to the coast. Only 1 of the 4 girls thought to bring extra clothes, so by the end of the day they were sandy and wet!
Cape Kiwanda itself is mostly sandstone cliffs. It's roped off with signs warning people to stay behind the ropes due to dangerous conditions. Many people have died from standing too close to an edge that gives way or are swept off the rocks by waves. Yet every day people ignore the signs and venture out onto the cape. As I walked around (staying behind the ropes because I'm a rule follower!), I noticed several clothespins serving as a memorial/tribute to those who unfortunately lost their lives here. It was touching (and frustrating as others walked right by and beyond the ropes into the forbidden territory.
Just a few more pics. It was weird, yet normal, coastal weather. We'd have blue skies and sunshine, then complete cloud cover...then blue skies peeking through again.
Saying goodbye...
Such wonderful memories we'll never forget! Thanks for your gracious hospitality as always. Great photos to capture it. Miss you all so much
