Sydney turns 13

every year we (I) write a silly rhyme on our chalkboard....

Last Friday, the 5th, Sydney had her party with 4 of her close friends. (this was only her second birthday party with friends - the first was when she turned 10).  She was very excited and chose bowling as her activity. We met at the bowling alley and bowled for 2 hours.

After bowling we headed home for pizza, cake and games. In attendance were Ben and Kyle (brothers and fellow homeschoolers) and Angelina and Abby (sisters and fellow homeschoolers...Abby is also my violin student). I love that this group includes both boys and girls, and the kids range in age from just turned 11 to just turned 15. The boys left at 8:30 pm and the girls spent the night.

I put up this paper and encouraged birthday party guests and family members to write messages to Sydney on it. Even Sydney contributed some artwork to it. She's given each of her friends a dragon name, and she drew them. (Scorpia, Earthquake, Rose, Misty, Moonlight and Shadow)
