When I was looking for history curriculum for us this year, I came across this Civics program. We've done world history and US history a couple times, and I thought this might be the perfect fit for. So far I'm really enjoying it (I think the girls are just tolerating it). But seriously, we've all learned a lot!
One day we took a field trip to the court house to look around. The girls were scared that we weren't supposed to be in there so we didn't do too much looking around.
We also went to the library and found a copy of Oregon's state constitution.
It's fun to be learning about elections right around election time. We keep all the flyers we get in the mail every day to talk about during our civics class.
Right now we are learning an overview of all the presidents. Do you know which Presidents were born in your state? Do you know which Presidents claimed your state as their home state? Do you know which state is the birthplace to the most Presidents?
