Halloween

We are back from our week in California. Kevin had two different sets of meetings during the week, and the girls and I tagged along. I'll get to the photos of that trip, but first Halloween....

Originally we were going to trick or treat on our way home, in Bend, but we got to Bend earlier than we anticipated because of rain. We spent the previous night near Ashland, OR (home of Oregon's Shakespeare Festival) and wanted to explore that town a bit, but it was pouring. We also thought we'd stop and take in the beauty of Crater Lake and the surrounding area on our way to Bend, but it was pouring (and even snowing at times). So we pushed on and got to Bend early.

There was actually a higher chance of rain in Bend than at home, so we decided to push on and just get home. The girls were excited because they love passing out candy as much as, if not more, than trick or treating. When we got home we realized that we'd unknowingly left part of Sydney's costume at home so it was just as well that we pushed on.

Just as we were heading out the door to trick or treat, a storm rolled in and it started pouring. And the tears started flowing. But after 30 minutes it passed and all was good.

Kayleigh was Elsa....

And Sydney was Steve from Minecraft - a game she likes to play. She designed and made this costume mostly by herself. What you can't see well from either photo is that she also had boxes on her legs. It was fun to see people's reactions...those who knew the game knew this was Steve and were quite impressed. Others who didn't know thought she was a robot or Lego person. One guy even said...."Oh look...it's a box!"

And this year's jack-o-lanterns.... a face (Kayleigh) and dragons (Sydney)
